BRISTOL, Tenn. – Sunday’s scheduled running of the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series’ Food City 500 has been postponed due to rain.
NASCAR officials announced on Sunday that due to the impending forecast and likelihood of rain continuing all day, that they have decided to postpone the event to Monday, April 24th at 1 PM ET.
NASCAR is hopeful that Monday’s forecast will be more conducive for racing with only a 40% chance of rain expected after 11 AM.
Kyle Larson and Chase Elliott will lead the field to green from the front-row, by virtue of the NASCAR rulebook following the cancellation of qualifying on Friday.
The Food City 500 will be televised on Fox at 1 PM/ET with a pre-race coverage beginning on FS1 at 12:30 PM/ET.
